You are invited to take part in our rides. See Cycling rides for programme and below for monthly rides from Dundee. These are sociable rides at a comfortable pace, ie not fast. If you prefer a faster pace please contact the Secretary and offer to lead one.

Cycle ride 30 May 2009

Dundee Railway Heritage ride 

Meet Discovery Point at 10:00 for 10:30 start for informative Railway ride which David Martin will lead. It will only be about 11 miles but will take 2 hours with frequent stops to point out historical remains. David has done a lot of research into this project so I hope you will support him. Bring food and drink but there is likely to be a stop at the end of the ride at the new Bridgeview Carriage Restaurant which is by the free parking area on Riverside Drive.

Pitlochry Week-end

Gavin Lindsay is organising this. His proposals are either week-end of 5 / 6 June at Backpackers Hostel or 12/13 June at SYHA or Backpackers Hostel.

Backpackers Hostel in the main street is available both week-ends.
It has 4 bed dormitories. �13 p.p.p.n  It also has 6 twin rooms and 6 double rooms at �35 per room p. n.
Parking for approx 6 cars
2 cookers and an oven.
Cycle storage facilities.

SYHA  hostel is only available 12/13 June.
It's costs are �15.50 p.p.p.n. for members for non members a group booking fee of �25 will cover all non members but cost for non members is �16.50. p.p.p.n.

Participants would meet at Pitlochry any time after 3pm on the Friday. (Could arrange to cycle from Dundee and other points?)

Suggested 40 mile cycle rides on Saturday and Sunday.
A) Pitlochry to Bruar approx 15 miles stop for teabreak at visitor centre.
Bruar to Calvine. Turn west to Trinafour.
Trinafour south to Loch Tummel.
East along the loch to the Queens View ( toilets and refreshments if required )
Queens View back to Pitlochry.
 
B) The other route is;
Pitlochry along the south side of Loch Tummel to Foss.
Foss south to the river Tay then east to Weem's castle restuarant.
Weems castle to Logierait.
Logierait to Pitlochry.

You may wish to arrange alternative accommodation and meet up with Gavin and the group for the cycle rides.

Meet Discovery Point, Dundee at 10:00 for 10:30 start to cycle round the Tay. Refreshments at Bridge of Earn Farm shop.

Saturday 28 March 2009
Meet 10:00 for 10:00 departure at Camperdown Park (entrance to ice rink, etc)
Camperdown gates, Dronley, Thriepley, Lundie then over to Kinnaird with a lunch stop at Errol Station, return by lower carse road. Total distance 35miles approx.
 
If weather dictates a different route we can decide on the day.

Edzell Week-end - 20 - 22 February.

This was a great success. 24 members from Tayside, Fife and Lothians stayed for the week-end and 2 others for part. The weather was great and cycling was good.
